The Desert Rose is a living sculpture — a caudiciform succulent whose swollen, characterful base (the caudex) is topped with showy trumpet flowers in pink, red, white and bicolours. Few accent plants combine bold form and vivid bloom quite so effectively, which is why designers reach for it again and again.
It is perfectly at home in the Gulf: it loves heat and full sun, stores its own water, and asks for very little once established beyond sharp drainage. That makes it ideal for feature pots, rockeries, xeriscape beds and any position where a striking, low-water accent is wanted.
