Umbrella Thorn Acacia

Acacia tortilis

The Umbrella Thorn is the quintessential silhouette of the arid landscape — a flat-topped, spreading crown held on a characterful, often sculptural trunk. It is a true desert native, built for the harshest conditions and prized for the distinctive, evocative form that reads instantly as regional and wild.

Few trees are tougher. It tolerates extreme heat, drought and poor, saline soils, surviving on rainfall alone in the wild and asking almost nothing of the irrigation budget once established. That makes it ideal for naturalistic, low-input and habitat-focused schemes, as well as afforestation and boundary planting.

Its slow growth and wild character mean well-formed specimens take time to produce and are worth reserving early. We supply acclimatised, field-grown Acacia tortilis for native and desert-themed landscapes across the UAE, delivered site-ready with phased release to match your programme.
